How to display critical-political thought in carpets influenced by the Nizami Haftapikar (Case example: two pictorial carpets with the theme of Bahram Gur and Shepherd)

Abstract

One aspect of the comprehensiveness of Persian literature is the possession of political foundations and Governance rituals. Shahnameh and Khamseh Nizami with the mentioned content component are of interest to artists in different fields. The choice of social-political themes and their presentation is related to audience's inner feelings and his social perceptions. The purpose of this study is introduce another facet of literary stories about the Bahram Gore in Iranian pictorial carpets and it answers this question, how is field of political criticism and advice explained in Qajar pictorial carpets with a literary theme? Analytical-descriptive article and collection of library data. This research has examined two Qajar carpets of Kashan region with the narration of Bahram Gur and shepherd. The results are visual and content; In both rugs, the designer artists have shown the instructive moment of Bahram's meeting with the shepherd and hanging the sheep dog on tree. In both, a scene containing the moment of warning Bahram (the representative of ruling class) to the shepherd (the representative of inferior people) is shown. The content axis also states that the idea of having ideal kings with good planning and statesmanship could be implicitly the center of gravity of the political-critical thought the works of Qajar artists and the mentioned cases have been reminded to the audience.
