Museums and Education in the Digital Age: Designing Interactive and Standardized Websites to Strengthen National Identity and Expand International Interactions

In the digital age, museum websites have become essential tools for expanding public knowledge, strengthening cultural identity, and fostering international engagement. This study examines the design principles of archaeological and historical museum websites, emphasizing their role in delivering structured educational content and enhancing cultural awareness. The central research question asks how standardized design and modern technologies can transform museum websites into effective platforms for education, global interaction, and the promotion of national identity. Employing a mixed qualitative–quantitative approach, the study analyzes the websites of leading institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum, the Hermitage, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and the British Museum to identify key design indicators. Data were gathered through an examination of information architecture, the quality of educational materials, and the interactive features provided, and were evaluated using relevant theoretical frameworks. The findings demonstrate that effective museum website design requires clear information organization, multilingual and multimedia content, and the incorporation of technologies such as augmented reality, virtual tours, and personalized systems. Accurate classification of collections, high-resolution downloadable images, and access to supplementary information for both general and specialized users are also essential. Overall, the study underscores that successful museum websites must balance visual appeal with educational purpose, support multilingual access, and facilitate meaningful international cultural exchange.
