One of the most prominent symbolic birds in the field of Iranian culture, art and mythology is the peacock and is a fowl from the pheasant order. There are generally three types of peacocks. It is relatively easier to recognize the motif of the peacock in painting, but it will be difficult in pottery works. There are three questions in this research. First, what are the differences in appearance between the three types of peacocks, and secondly, how was the motif of the peacock represented in the pottery works of the Islamic era until the end of the Safavid era in Iran, and thirdly, which of the characteristics of the three types of peacocks are known in the examined samples. It can be seen that the purpose of this research is to recognize the motif of the peacock in some ceramic works of the Islamic periods, and since this subject has been less discussed, the necessity of doing it is felt. The research method is descriptive-adaptive, and research data was collected using library and internet sources. The results of the research show that 13 of the 19 study samples are very similar to peacocks, but 4 have no resemblance to the characteristics of peacocks or have very little resemblance, and they probably gave it the name of peacock by mistake
