Mythological analysis of artworks of most prominent fields of art analysis . Campbell's monomyth theory of the hero's journey has a special capacity for adaptation to literary and artworks. The carpet in Museum has 25 frames that describe the Rostam and his battles. Some of them can refer to triple cycle of hero's journey in their motif. َArticle with aim of analyzing mythology of carpet, answers question that which of the studied carpet frames are compatible with Campbell's myth of hero's journey?
The research is qualitative and the research method is analytical-descriptive. The data collection method is library-based, and the article analysis method (observation, text analysis, and presentation of a systematic pattern from the data) follows content analysis. This carpet has irregular stages of three distinct cycles of single myth of the hero's journey in eleven frames. The first cycle is Haftkhān-e-Rostam, showing two stages in six frames, the second cycle is the battle of Rostam and Akvan Div, showing the visual presentation of the second stage in two frames, and the third cycle is the battle of Rostam and Esfandiyār, showing only the second stage in three frames. What was important to the carpet designer and weaver was the display Rostam martial abilities and conquests. Therefore the monomyth system of the hero's journey is not evident in all frames.
