Francisco Goya’s works are a unique collection in the artistic heritage of humanity, which is on the one hand an inner human search and on the other hand an action against the chaotic world outside. For this purpose, the criticism and analysis of his two works "Burial of Sardines" and "Procession of the Flagellants" the painting of with a semiotic approach were considered in this article. The purpose of this article is to examine the visual signs and reading of the two mentioned works with a structuralist and text-oriented view in order to achieve the way of signifying and the way of signification that entails trans-temporal and trans-spatial meanings and readings. The results of this research show that the examination and analysis of the visual signs of the mentioned works, makes it possible to achieve the network structure of the visual text, the multiple meanings and the chain of meanings intended by Barthes, which is hidden in the hidden layers of the text. It is also clear that Goya's style of painting in the two mentioned works is such that their network structure can be analyzed and read independently of time and place. The research method is descriptive-analytical and the method of collecting information is in the form of documents.
